Samsung Galaxy A50 release date is really close now

Samsung Galaxy A50 Wi-Fi Alliance

Lately, Samsung’s Galaxy A series has been growing bigger and it seems the Korean company won’t be relenting anytime soon.

According to a listing on the Wi-Fi Alliance, there is a new Samsung Galaxy A505FN/DS in the works. At the moment, the device’s model number and the fact that it will run Android 9 Pie out of the box are all we have.

Still, looking at the model number, one can argue that we could be looking at a new Samsung Galaxy A5 handset. Samsung lost us when it went with model number SM-A530 for the Galaxy A8 2018, a model number that would have been the natural successor to the Galaxy A5 2017 (SM-A520).

With the choice of the new model number, it may indicate Samsung’s desire to refresh things in the midrange segment. Also, the fact that the listed model number is for a dual-SIM variant suggests the device is targeting the developing markets.

When exactly this Galaxy A505FN/DS will be unveiled remains unknown, but having been cleared by the WFA, it means the release isn’t too far away from now.

Samsung is also expected to announce the Galaxy S10 family on February 20 ahead of the MWC 2019 event in Barcelona, Spain. Like the A505, the S10 will ship preinstalled with Android 9 Pie, an OS that is already rolling out to the Galaxy S9, Note 9 and is coming soon to the Note 8 and S8.
