Update [May 23, 2019]: OnePlus is now rolling out the stable Android 9 Pie update to OnePlus 3 and 3T as OxygenOS 9.0.2.

OnePlus came to the smartphone fold in 2014 and four years later, the Chinese OEM is one of the go-to smartphone vendors when software support is a top priority.

Apart from the unlucky OnePlus 2 that for some reason never got the deserved update to Android Nougat, OnePlus has been doing a great job as far as software updates are concerned, be it minor, monthly security patches or even major Android OS upgrades.

The fact that OnePlus only has a handful of smartphones on the market also makes it light work for the company to work on software updates for all of them, despite their size. But of course, if OnePlus 2 never got past Marshmallow, don’t expect it anywhere close to the official OnePlus Pie update.

Still, the device should continue receiving love from the developer community, probably even post Pie. You can check out more on the unofficial Android 9 update in the last section of this post.
