As a nice Christmas present to the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T owners, OnePlus today started seeding out the stable Android Pie update for these two handsets.
Coming in as OxygenOS 9.0.0, the update is already hitting eligible devices as an OTA as we talk. OnePlus first released the Android Pie update as a beta on December 21, and it took the company mere 14 days to get the stable version rolling out.

Considering Samsung released the Android 9 Pie update for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ only a day ago, this is impressive from OnePlus who have managed to update their flagship devices from 2017 to Android Pie already. FYI, OnePlus rolled out Android Pie for the OnePlus 6 last month, but it already feels like ages, maybe because of the delayed rollout of Pie update by other OEMs.
Speaking of which, Asus, which has been a really good competitor to OnePlus this year thanks to its ZenFone 5Z handset, hasn’t managed to update the Pie yet — they barely updated the ZenFone 5 to Android 9 Pie a few days ago, though, for what it is worth.
Anyway, back to the news of the day, the OxygenOS 9.0.0 update for the OnePlus 5 and 5T gets you Android Pie features such as Navigation Gestures, improved DND mode, App Actions, Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, Digital Wellbeing, etc. OnePlus is also giving you Gaming Mode 3.0 with the 9.0.0 update of OxygenOS, which adds text notification and 3rd part calls notifications to the scene.
The OxygenOS 9.0.0 update also installs the latest December 2018 security patches, and that completes the changelog of the new update.
