We have known for long that OnePlus team is working hard on bringing the Android 7.0 Nougat update to their OnePlus 3 users — they even shared a short video, and confirmed the plans on their Reddit AMA.
Today, a team member of OnePlus team who heads the software division, Brian Yoon, confirm to Engadget that they plan to release the beta version of Nougat update, that will be called Nougat community build, within this month, November 2016.
OnePlus also have a new handset coming up on Nov 15 in OnePlus 3T, so it will be interesting to see whether that becomes the company’s first device to rock Nougat — if it comes pre-installed with Android 7.0 — or the 3T too joins the original OP3 in 7.0 beta.
He also revealed that they plan to release the stable OnePlus 3 Nougat update later in December. While we won’t say OnePlus is late to Nougat party, because it isn’t — even the likes of Samsung and Sony also have only Nougat beta right now — but it’s certainly not among the quickest yet. Although they have improved considerably.
Yesterday, a beta version of Huawei P9 Nougat also leaked out, while we have already spilled enough ink about the Galaxy S7 Nougat beta, and Galaxy S7 Edge Nougat beta, that arrived a day before yesterday in Korea, and since then has expanded to other markets.
Talking further about the Android Nougat update, well, LG is the one and only OEM right now to have stable Nougat update (LG G5), of which firmware is also available for download as KDZ file. Huawei also announced the Honor 8 Android 7.0 beta update for its Indian users, while Motorola was the first one to come with Nougat beta version for its Moto Z Droid and Moto G4 and G4 Plus. We’re yet to HTC Nougat come alive, BTW.
