Verizon is currently seeding new software updates for the entire range of Google Pixel smartphones. The Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and the Pixel 2 XL, are all getting new updates right now. All the updates are available over-the-air, and include the latest Android security patch and other fixes.

The software build number for all the 4 devices is the same, because all the updates are similar. The version number is OPM1.171019.011 and all of them install the December Android security patches on the devices.

The update also includes the fix for the KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerability. It is a little bit late for Verizon to release the patch for this issue, but nevertheless, it is now here. If you’ve got a Verizon locked Pixel smartphone, then you probably must have received this update by now.

How to root Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

This is a recommended software update, but make sure that your device has more than 50 percent charge before installing. It is also better to download the updates over a stable Wi-Fi connection to avoid data charges. These updates are based on Android 8.0 Oreo, but there aren’t new features as such.

Google is currently testing the Android 8.1 Oreo update on the Pixel devices. The final build should be available very soon. The latest developer preview 2 of Oreo enabled the Pixel Visual Core chipset on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

  1. Hey man, have you been online the past few days? Aren’t you aware that many Pixel users have been reporting terrible battery drain since the November Google update. C’mon man, can you at least address that in this article and do some real journalism.
