Motorola has won a case in Germany against Microsoft over infringement of a patent which enables apps to work on different handsets. A method of developing apps which allows developers to save time and money on writing separate code for different devices.

Microsoft was previously awarded three patent cases against Motorola leading to ban of Moto phones using the disputed technology in Germany.

“This decision does not impact multiple injunctions Microsoft has already been awarded and has enforced against Motorola products in Germany,” said David Howard, associate general counsel at Microsoft.

Germany has become a hot battleground for the patent wars between mobile technology companies as the country costs relatively cheap for the Court filings and also the jury is usually quicker than other countries.

Phew! With so many patent cases going around it can be hard to even remember the case when you hear the news of final Jury coming. But nevertheless it makes us say Yay! when the company we support wins over.
