The Forbidden Archives is the self-contained dungeon behind the Gate of Infinity Beacon in the Ruins of Mammon, and it seals its own exit until you hand a request podium the right book. That book is the Grimorium Obscurum, and because there is no map inside the gate, plenty of players circle the library for far too long looking in the wrong spot. Key The whole puzzle comes down to three moves: pull the Grimorium Obscurum off the shelves, feed it to the wall slot by the entrance, and win one short boss fight. The book is the only thing that unlocks the sealed door, so nothing else in the room matters until you have it. Beating the miniboss at the end hands you a Tarstone for clearing the trial — recorded as the Curseblood Stone, though the exact reward wording varies around this fight.
How to find the Grimorium Obscurum and clear the Gate of Infinity in Mortal Shell 2
Clear the library at your own pace, grab the book from the middle of the room, then bring it back to unlock the boss door.

Use the boost gate to lift yourself to the upper level of the room where the book is waiting.

The book sits up top in the dead center of the room, directly behind the podium that asked for it — with no map inside, aim for the middle rather than the outer walls.

Bring the book back to the slot
Return the Grimorium Obscurum to the wall slot beside the podium near the entrance and place it to open the way forward.

Beat Gloombound Wraith
Picking up the Grimorium Obscurum is not enough on its own — the door stays shut until you place it in the wall slot near the entrance, so backtrack and insert it before you go hunting for the exit.

Using chandeliers to thin out the library
If the enemies in the library are the real thing stopping you rather than the puzzle, look up. Shooting the chandeliers overhead with your crossbow drops them straight onto the crowd below, which is an easy way to clear a knot of foes before you commit to the boost gate.
It is entirely optional — you can grab the book with the room still full — but it takes a lot of pressure off if the fight to reach the shelves is where you keep dying.
