LG is preparing to answer Samsung’s soon-to-be-announced Galaxy S3 with an Android flagship smartphone of its own, codenamed the D1L. The D1L has been rumored to sport a 4.7 inch HD display, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, LTE connectivity, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Now, another specification has been revealed by the Korean Website DDaily. The D1L will apparently support wireless charging capabilities, which was rumored to be supported by the Galaxy S3 as well. LG previously played a hand at wireless charging, with the Verizon LG Revolution that could be charged wirelessly with an optional back plate. But with the D1L, wireless charging will supported by default.
HTC is already reaping success with the One X, their 2012 flagship smartphone, but it seems it will soon have competition in the form of the Galaxy S3 and LG’s D1L. What does this mean for the customers? More choices, and not to mention reduced prices. But the D1L will have to be pretty convincing, as it’s a dual-core phone that will be battling it with two quad-core powerhouses. Though as seen in the case of the One S, the dual-core S4 Snapdragon is no slouch, so we’ll reserve judgement till the D1L is seen in action.
The D1L will be released in South Korea on major carriers at the end of May according to DDaily, with no mention of when it will see worldwide availability. More details should soon follow, and needless to say, we’ll be letting you know as and when we find out more.
