T-Mobile Galaxy S2 Gets Ice Cream Sandwich Themed ROM – Domination

We’ve got an Android 4.0 ROM (in alpha version) for our international version of Galaxy S2, i9100, but our friends at T-Mobile in US who have a slightly different version of S2, are yet to get one true AOSP Android 4.0 ROM for their Galaxy S2. But fret not, if you’ve got the Galaxy S2 device at T-Mobile, there is a custom ROM to ease you for the time being,  till real Android 4.0 firmware/rom is out.

Called Domination — it’s got the ICS theme, which makes it look very much like an actual Android 4.0 ROM, and it’s faster, no-bloatware ROM, based on Android 2.3.5 with Samsung’s beautiful TouchViz 4 UI. It’s not based on Android 4.0, ice Cream Sandwich, btw, in case it needed repetition.

Warning: Warranty may be void of your device if you follow the procedures given on this page. You only are responsible for your device. We wont be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components. [error]This guide is applicable only for Samsung’s Galaxy S2 at T-Mobile SGH-T989 — and not for that one at AT&T, Sprint or international version.  Check your phone’s version in Settings – About Phone. It has to be “SGH-T989” for this firmware to be compatible with your phone. If it’s not SGH-T989, simply don’t try this ROM on your android handset — don’t even think about it if you care about your android device.[/error]

Info about the ROM:

  • Developer: Revolution
  • Official Development Page – Link
  • Current version – v1.5 (Nov 23, 2011)

Things to take care of before Installing ROMs

  1. Installing/Flashing this ROM will erase your apps and data. So, it’s a very important you back them up before proceeding further. To backup your apps and important data — bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs (internet settings), etc. this Android backup guide would help you. Restore APN settings if Internet isn’t working for you. And if you are using a rooted phone, you can save application’s data too, using Titanium backup (free app on android market) to backup apps with apps with data. Use the same app again to restore those apps with data.
  2. Drivers! — it’s important you’ve the proper drivers installed. Download links below:

  7. It’s articles like this that end up confusing the shit out of people.  It is in no way, shape, or form an Ice Cream Sandwich based rom.  The title is 100% misleading and I’m sure that is intentional

  10. This “dev” ( wouldn’t call him that…he just kangs other peoples stuff ) is well known on the forums as a hackjob. He takes other peoples work without permission and lightly themes it differently.

Please remove this so people don’t ruin their phones
