March 11, 2019: Huawei Nova 2S is receiving a new software update in China for models HWI-AL00 and HWI-TL00. The new update installs March 2019 security patch, optimizes camera performance and stability, and improves its launch and photo taking speeds. The Honor 9 will also enjoy an updated list of pre-downloaded songs to better cater to your preference.
Your Nova 2s must be installed with EMUI 9.0.1.150 in order to receive the OTA download notification to EMUI 9.0.1.160, the latest version available.
February 21, 2019: Huawei Nova 2s started testing Pie several weeks ago, but the stable rollout has yet to be made public. Until then, those who did not get into the EMUI 9.0 beta channel have a new update rolling out in China as EMUI 8.0.0.199. Based on Oreo 8.0, the OTA brings a new Android security patch for January 2019 alongside other bug fixes and improvements.

Huawei Nova 2S came by in late 2017 as the premium variant of the midrange Nova 2 that came out in mid-June of the same year. Huawei Nova 2S Android 9 Pie update

Huawei is trialing EMUI 9.0 beta based on Android 9 Pie for users of the Nova 2S. However, the initial release is limited to the Chinese market with model numbers HWI-AL00 and HWI-TL00, so be sure your variant has either of the two model numbers.
Also, the OTA update is only available to those who had submitted their interest to participate in the EMUI 9.0 beta program. In order to receive the OTA download notification, you need to be running at least EMUI version 8.0.0.195, which will be upgraded to EMUI 9.0.1.56 based on Pie.
Now that EMUI 9.0 beta is here, we expect the stable version to arrive towards the end of 2018 or in early 2019. We will update this post when the update begins rolling out. Also, since Pie will be the first major Android OS upgrade for the Nova 2S, an update to Android Q is also expected in future.
