HTC has started seeding the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the unlocked variant of the HTC U11. The update is now rolling out in Europe as version 2.31.400.6, and we hope it is set to arrive for the users in the US too. While it’s been confirmed to arrive in more regions across the world in the next few weeks, our Taiwanese friends first first to receive Oreo treatment from HTC.
The VC of Project Management at HTC tweeted the good news on Friday, last week. He also added that the Sprint variant of the HTC U11 will also be released very soon. Apart from that, he confirmed that the HTC U11 Life, the U Ultra, and the HTC 10, would also get upgraded to Oreo. No time-frame has been given as such.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. The Oreo OS update will be available for download on the HTC u11 unlocked version starting on Monday! Enjoy!

This would make HTC the fourth OEM to release the Oreo update for its high-end smartphones. Just last week, OnePlus released the Oreo update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. Even Nokia updated the Nokia 8 to Oreo last week. Sony was the first OEM besides Google itself to release Android 8.0 for the Xperia XZ Premium, and now the company has also added Xperia XZ and XZs to ORA-rollout-done list.
Samsung is still perfecting the Oreo update for its Galaxy S8 devices, meanwhile other manufacturers have also promised to deliver the update in Q1 2018.
Those with an unlocked HTC U11 should see the update notification on their device soon. Once you’ve got it, make sure you download it over a Wi-Fi connection as the file size would be large. HTC will also include new improvements and security enhancements in the update.
