HTC U11 in US gets new update to version 1.28.617.6

HTC is pushing a new update to its flagship device HTC U11 in the US. The new update arrives as version number 1.28.617.6.

The new update, which is currently rolling out, weighs 716.57 MB and brings the August security patch to HTC U11. As is the case with any other security patch, the update takes care of various vulnerabilities in the device.

Although the changelog also mentions system enhancements, the exact system enhancements are not specifically mentioned. So, do expect some good changes since the update weighs a hefty 716MB. The update will also take care of various bugs and under the hood performance improvements.

Further, it may take some time for the update to reach your device. You will be notified once the update arrives on your device. You can check for the update manually by going into Settings – About – Software.

Talking about Oreo, yesterday Sony created history by being the first OEM to send Oreo update to one of its existing devices. The lucky device to receive Android Oreo is the Xperia XZ Premium that was launched in the first quarter 2017. It’s not just Sony that has been working on Android Oreo update, other brands like OnePlus and Nokia are also burning the midnight oil to release Android Oreo. While OnePlus recently released the beta build of Oreo for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, Nokia teased that the Oreo for Nokia 8 is in the final stages of testing. Even Samsung is working on the Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, but as of now, Android 8.0 beta program is yet to go live.

Meanwhile, HTC is all gearing up for its event that is scheduled for November 2. HTC is expected to release either Android One edition of HTC U11 known as HTC U11 Life or the premium variant of HTC U11 known as HTC U11 Plus.
