ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers can now spend their plan’s usage inside other apps. OpenAI expanded Sign in with ChatGPT at DevDay on September 29, 2026, and OpenAI lists 16 apps that can use your plan, including Cognition’s Devin, Notion and Vercel. One of them, Lovable, is still marked coming soon. You connect an app once, choose whether it can use your plan, and set how much of your weekly usage it may take.

The short version

  • Plus and Pro users can let participating apps draw on the ChatGPT Work and Codex usage in their plan.
  • You set a weekly limit per app as a share of your overall usage, in Settings → Usage.
  • Signing in shares your name, email and profile picture; using your plan doesn’t by itself give the app your chats or memories.
  • Anyone can sign in with ChatGPT; only Plus and Pro can share their plan.

How Sign in with ChatGPT works with your plan

You start in the other app. Pick Sign in with ChatGPT or Continue with ChatGPT, log in to your ChatGPT account, and the app shows what it will receive. If the app supports it, a separate permission asks whether it can use your ChatGPT plan. You can sign in and say no to that part.

When you allow it, eligible AI requests in the app count against the ChatGPT Work and Codex usage that comes with your plan. It doesn’t add a new allowance, and you don’t create or paste an OpenAI API key. OpenAI’s Thibault Sottiaux (Tibo) said: “No little rules, you can just use all your included usage right there.”

The app can still charge for its own subscription or premium features. How fast an app uses your allowance depends on the app and the task, and its usage rates can differ from ChatGPT’s own. Some features you get in ChatGPT or the OpenAI API may not be available when an app runs on your plan.

Partners

Every app that supports Sign in with ChatGPT

OpenAI’s partner list splits the apps into three groups. Twelve are commercial apps with plan usage, four are open-source tools, and five offer sign-in only.

Privacy

What an app gets when you sign in with ChatGPT

Signing in shares a small set of account details. Sharing your plan is a separate permission, and neither one opens up your ChatGPT history.

Shared and not shared with a connected app

Item Shared?
Name, email address, profile picture Yes, when you sign in
Your plan’s Work and Codex usage Only if you allow it
ChatGPT conversations No
ChatGPT memories No
An OpenAI API key No

An app can ask for other permissions on top of these, so read its request and privacy information before you continue.

Limits

How to cap what each app can use

In ChatGPT, open Settings → Usage. Under App limits, each connected app has a weekly limit set as a percentage of your overall weekly usage. The limit is a cap, not a reserved share: it doesn’t set usage aside for the app or raise your total. An app can hit its own limit while you still have ChatGPT usage left.

When your whole plan runs out, apps stop using it. Where the option is offered, they can carry on with your available ChatGPT credits once you switch that on. It’s off by default, and only an app whose limit is set to 100% can use credits. If automatic credit purchases are also on, continued use can lead to automatic charges, and you may not get a separate notice when you reach your included usage limit.

Signing out isn’t disconnecting

Logging out of the app doesn’t stop it from using your plan. To end the connection, go to Settings → Security and login → Sign in with ChatGPT, pick the app and choose Disconnect. Disconnecting doesn’t undo usage already recorded, and it doesn’t delete information the app has already received.

FAQs

Can Free or Go users use their plan in these apps?

No. OpenAI’s help page says the option to use a ChatGPT plan is only available with Plus and Pro. Free and Go users can still sign in with ChatGPT. The same page says all users can connect supported open-source tools, without saying whether that includes plan usage.

Does buying credits make my account eligible?

No. OpenAI says buying credits or signing in again doesn’t make an account eligible. Credits only help accounts that already qualify, once you allow apps to use them.

Can other apps join?

OpenAI launched with a limited set of partners. Open-source developers can use its developer docs, and commercial companies can apply through an interest form.
