How to unlock fishing in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
When you want to lazy around in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and want to do something other than complete story quests within the game, you can take part in fishing in any water body you can find inside the map. Fishing refreshes your mind in-between quests and challenges, gets you rewards, increases your survival, and lets you catch rare and legendary fishes in AC Valhalla.
While fishing in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a pretty simple activity to learn, you need to cast a fishing line that will only be available to you when you build a Fishing Hut.
You can build a Fishing Hut in your settlement at Ravensthorpe. The option to build a fishing hut in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla can only be unlocked when you obtain rank 2 with your settlement.
One Fishing Hut can be built with 45 units of Raw Materials and 600 Supplies. Once your hut is built, you’ll find a young lad named Arth who will tell you about the different fishes you can catch and what you may get in exchange for those fishes.
A fishing line will appear in your inventory when a Fishing Hut is fully constructed and now you can proceed to start fishing.

How to start fishing in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Once you have unlocked a fishing line in your inventory after building a Fishing Hut, you can now go to any body of water that’s around you. There will at least be one type of fish to catch across any source of water that you find in England or Norway.
You can fish along the coast or riverside by standing on land or go to a deep water body using a boat. Yes, you can fish when within a boat, as well.
Now, open Eivor’s action wheel to open up your inventory by hitting down on the D-Pad on your controller. When the action wheel appears, select the fishing rope from your inventory.
When the fishing rope is out, press the L2/LT to aim where you want to throw the rope. You can then cast the fishing line onto the water by pressing R2/RT on your controller.
Now, all you need to do is wait for the fish to approach your hook like you would in real life. You will be able to spot when a fish is approaching through its reflections and shadows on the water.
When the fish takes the bait, you will feel your controller vibrate. That’s the indication that you need to hook your fishing rope in. You can hook your rope by pressing R2/RT on your controller.
To pull the fishing rope, you need to keep smashing the X/A button on your controller repeatedly.
The fish will try to break free and escape the hook once it’s stuck. To avoid that from happening, you need to control the direction you reel the fish in using the left joystick. This is an important aspect because if you’re pulling the rope in the opposite direction to where the fish is swimming, the rope might break and the fish can thus, escape.
Unfortunately, no two fish act alike and you will have to put up with different levels of resistance of all the fishes that you may find in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla by mashing X/A at various speeds.
There you go! That’s how you can catch a fish in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
