How to Bookmark and Save Posts on Threads

What to know

  • Threads lets you bookmark and save posts by tapping on the three-dot icon and selecting ‘Save’.
  • All your saved posts are found within Settings > Saved.
  • Posts that you bookmark are saved privately, which is different from liking a post since your likes are visible to others as well.

Social media users are no strangers to bookmarking posts that they like or want to revisit later. Be it a favorite meme or a news post that one doesn’t have time to read at the moment, bookmarking and saving posts is a feature available on just about every social media platform in one way or another. However, it wasn’t until recently that Threads brought this much-needed feature to the mix. Here’s how you can start bookmarking and saving posts on Threads.

How to bookmark or save posts on Threads

Open Threads and tap on the three-dot icon next to the post that you want to save. Then tap on Save.

And just like that, your post will be bookmarked and saved. Threads does require an additional step to save posts which makes it a little less convenient for users who are used to X (Twitter) and Instagram, both of which have the option to bookmark posts on the main feed itself.

How to view your saved posts on Threads

There are a couple of ways that you can view your saved posts on Threads.

Method 1: From Settings

  1. To view all your bookmarked posts, tap on the profile icon in the bottom right corner. Then select ‘Settings’ (two horizontal lines) at the top right corner.
  2. Select Saved and view your bookmarked posts.

Method 2: After saving a post

Threads also lets you view your saved posts at the time that you save them. Once you tap on the bookmark icon, you’ll receive a pop-up notification at the bottom.

Tap on See all to jump directly to the ‘Saved’ posts section in Settings.

Likes vs Bookmarks

Given that Threads has a separate ‘Your Likes’ section in Settings as well as a ‘Bookmarks’ section, one may wonder at the difference between the two. It’s not uncommon for social media platforms to release features that are more or less the same with marginal differences.

Even though both ‘Likes’ and ‘Bookmarks’ are saved separately for you to view laters, the big difference is in terms of privacy. When you like a Threads post, it is visible to others as well. But when you bookmark or save it, that information is not available to anyone but yourself. So if you want to save a post without letting others see it, make sure to bookmark it.
