It was only yesterday that we told you that Honor has announced the beta program for the Honor 9 and Honor V9 to bring the GPU Turbo feature to select few users first. But to our surprise, an update is also available now, that gets you GPU Turbo on your Honor 9/V9.
Known as software version 22.214.171.1245, based on EMUI 8.0 of course, the company announced the update earlier today for the Honor 9 and V9. The update would be out for the select few hundreds of users who signed up for the beta testing and received the official SMS notification.
Those users who are recruited for beta testing would receive the update via OTA which should arrive shortly to their Honor 9 and Honor V9 devices. Being a beta build, the update may have some bugs as expected. Honor has been pushing out updates for several Honor devices in the past few days, including the Android 9 Pie update for the Honor Play.
The GPU Turbo feature by Honor claims to “improve graphics processing efficiency by 60% while reducing the SoC (System on Chip) energy consumption by 30%”. So, if you’re on the gaming grind on the Honor 9 or the Honor V9, this new update would surely bring a welcomed enhancement.
Honor Android Pie update
Honor has already commenced rolling out the Android 9 Pie update for the Honor Play in Poland, while it’s available for as may as 9 handsets in China, where beta 2 of the Pie update was released a few days ago.
Since Honor has been quick to roll out the updates for three devices already, we could expect to see other devices such as the Honor 7X, Honor 9 Lite and the Honor 7C also receive the Android 9 Pie update in the coming few weeks.
