Honor 9 and Honor V9 receive Android Oreo update too

Huawei is also seeding the Android 8.0 Oreo update to its Honor 9 and Honor V9 handsets in China. The largest OEM in Chinese market had also released the Oreo for Mate 9 earlier, and if this is an indication of things to come: we think the P10 and P10 Plus are next in line, as these 4 handsets were already on Android 8.0 beta since last month. In fact, even Optus has given us some indication that their own P10 Plus is up for Android 8.0 testing pretty soon.

Huawei’s Oreo update comes in the form EMUI 8.0, which is a lot cleaner and improved version from its Nougat-based predecessor, EMUI 5.1. Of course, with the Android 8.0 update, your Honor 9/V9 will also get new features like Autofill, picture-in-picture, new Settings app, new notifications center, notification snooze , etc. stuff.

Huawei revealed in great details how they plan to roll out the Honor 9 and V9 Oreo OTA, and here is how it goes. First of all, users running B322 of Android Oreo beta program are first to receive the update, beginning December 5. Next, as you would expect, regular users who are out of beta program are up for Android 8.0, beginning December 7.

There is a thing, though. Make sure you are on latest pre-Oreo build to be able to receive Oreo OTA. For beta users, you must update to B322 to receive stable Oreo OTA, while non-beta users, you have to upgrade to B190 in case of Honor 9, while B208 in case Honor V9.

The updates are being delivered over-the-air to users, and can take anywhere few weeks before it’s seeded down for all users.
