Honor India has a new update for the Honor 8X that installs the latest Android security patches. There are, surprisingly, two versions of the same update rolling out to the same device.
Earlier this week, some Honor 8X users in India reported having started receiving an EMUI 8.2.0.161 update that carried the February 2019 security patch. Not long ago, we just got tipped off that another update with EMUI version 8.2.0.151 for the same region is rolling out.
As it turns out, these two builds have the same changelog and weight, which leaves us wondering why Honor would push different builds of the same update to one device in a given region.
Anyways, that shouldn’t bother you a lot. Whichever build you receive, you’ll end up with the same updates. Note that the rollout is airborne, meaning it will take some time before all Honor 8X units in India receive this update.
The Honor 8X is also on the list of devices expected to receive Android 9 Pie in the coming days. So far, beta testing is ongoing in India, Europe and even the home country of China, with an expected release date of March or April 2019.
