QUICK ANSWER
To get Water Boatman Fin in Grounded 2, head to the bridge at Skunk Pond, dive underwater beneath it, defeat the Water Boatmen swimming there, and loot the fins they drop.

The Into the Abyss update pushed Grounded 2 underwater, and one of the first pond materials worth chasing is the Water Boatman Fin. It comes off the Water Boatmen that glide through Skunk Pond, and the cleanest early cluster sits right under the bridge — dive down, clear the bugs, and the fins drop from their remains.

The spot is easy to line up because the bridge is your landmark — swim beneath it and the Water Boatmen are right there in the water column. Since this is an underwater farm, keep half an eye on your oxygen meter while you fight; it ticks down the whole time you’re submerged.

Why the bridge cluster is worth farming

This is a genuinely good early farm because the Water Boatmen aren’t scattered — they bunch up under and around the bridge, so you can chain several kills in a single dive without swimming halfway across the pond. There are more than five of them clustered here in view, which makes it one of the most efficient spots to stock up on fins before deeper Abyss content. Numbers can shift between dives as the pond repopulates, so treat it as a repeat-visit route rather than a one-and-done haul.

What Water Boatman Fin is used for

Use Materials or note
Fin Flops (lower-body swim gear) 4 Water Boatman Fin, 2 Eelgrass Strand, 2 Lilypad Wax
Fin Flops+ (upgrade) Upgraded Fin Flops; repairs with Water Boatman Fin and Lilypad Wax
Fluid Flippers (smoothie) Water Boatman Fin, Eelgrass Strand, Lilypad Wax — swim-speed boost
Boatman Fin Soup (meal) 2 Water Boatman Fin, 2 Mushroom, 2 Algae

The fin’s calling card is swimming gear. Its most useful home is Fin Flops, the lower-body flippers that boost swim speed and make pond exploration far less of a slog, plus their upgraded Fin Flops+ version. The fin also feeds the Fluid Flippers smoothie for a temporary swim-speed bump and a cooked meal, so a stack of fins pays off in both mobility and food. Because Into the Abyss is still new, the exact final recipe requirements for these uses may keep settling, but the swimming-gear role is what to farm toward.

Common mistakes while farming Water Boatmen

The biggest slip is misreading the pond. Skunk Pond is full of look-alike bugs — water fleas and spiny water fleas swim right alongside the Water Boatmen, and only the boatmen drop the fin, so lock onto the large, paddle-legged swimmers rather than swinging at everything that moves. The other trap is oxygen: it’s easy to get greedy chasing that last kill and start drowning on the way back up, so keep your breath meter in mind and surface when it gets low. And since the pond holds other, less friendly residents down in the deeper water, don’t wander far from the bridge cluster on a whim if you’re only here for fins.
