This is the third-generation Google Chromecast, coming soon

In exactly one week from now, Google is going to take the stage in New York and unveil the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL. But the phones won’t be the only new hardware products Google will be unveiling during the event.

The search giant should also introduce a third-generation Chromecast device. Apparently, Best Buy accidentally sold a new Chromecast to a customer who went on Reddit and posted some pics of the yet-to-be-unreleased device.

While the packaging of the new Chromecast seems quite similar to the current version’s, one can spot some differences between the two models. For example, the new model doesn’t have the magnetic portion that helps users manage the cable anymore, although it keeps the microUSB port. The Chrome logo on the top has also been replaced by Google’s “G” logo and there’s a new matte coating, instead of the glossy plastic build.

An updated Chromecast device with Bluetooth and improved Wi-Fi was spotted this summer at the FCC, but at this point, it’s unclear whether the two devices are one and the same. Anyway, we’re going to know more in a few days when Google officially announces the device. In the meantime, take a look at the gallery if you want to know how the new Chromecast will look like.
