  • Players can explore a brand-new island featuring unique resources, progression mechanics, and collectibles.
  • The update introduces Pearls, new NPCs, island-exclusive materials, and several fresh decorations.
  • It marks the game’s largest expansion since launch and lays the foundation for future island content.

The long-awaited Forgotten Isles update has officially arrived in Garden Horizons on July 29, 2026, bringing the game’s biggest expansion to date. After several teasers and a short delay, players can finally leave their gardens behind and venture into an entirely new island filled with fresh resources, quests, and progression systems.

Unlike previous updates that primarily focused on new seeds, weather events, or quality-of-life improvements, The Forgotten Isles adds a completely new area designed around exploration and gathering. The expansion gives players more activities beyond tending their gardens while introducing materials that are exclusive to the island.

One of the biggest additions is the new Forgotten Isles region itself. Players will repair Captain Roger’s boat before they can travel to the island. The repair process requires collecting starter materials such as Wood and Nails, creating a progression path before the new area becomes fully accessible.

Once on the island, players can gather several new resource types that cannot be found in the main garden. These include:

New island resourceHow to obtain
CactusHarvest with a Machete
CoconutHarvest with a Machete
CrystalHarvest with a Machete
LavaHarvest with a Machete

These resources are expected to become an important part of future crafting and progression systems.

The update also introduces a brand-new currency called Pearls. Pearls can be spent at Aladdin’s Pearl Shop, giving players another progression path separate from the standard Shillings economy. While the complete inventory of the Pearl Shop will evolve over time, it serves as the primary destination for island-specific rewards.

In addition to gameplay systems, players will find several cosmetic additions. The Forgotten Isles launches with four new plot decorations, allowing gardeners to customize their farms with island-themed items earned through the new content.

The update also references a Super Watering Can, suggesting another upgrade path for experienced players as they continue progressing through the island content.

Overall, The Forgotten Isles represents the most ambitious update Garden Horizons has received since launch. Instead of simply adding more crops or mutations, it expands the game with exploration, resource gathering, a new currency, and a dedicated progression loop that should keep players busy well beyond the initial release. The update also appears to establish the framework for additional island-based content in future patches.
