Update [September 21]: Verizon is rolling out the September security update to its Galaxy Note 9 users too. The update’s build number is the same, of course.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 at Sprint and AT&T is currently getting the September patch update, according to some users on forums.

The new build bumps the phablet up to software version N60USQS1ARH6. It’s a good jump start for updates, especially considering Samsung is pretty sluggish in getting them out.

We haven’t seen any reports of unlocked users and or Verizon/T-Mobile subscribers getting the same treatment so far. But hopefully, they will also get the September patch update soon enough.

But what most Galaxy Note 9 users are probably wondering is when is their phone getting the Android 9.0 Pie update.

We don’t have a definitive answer for that at this point. However, Samsung has begun testing the new build on some of its devices. Case in point, a few screenshots showing the new OS on the Galaxy S9+ have leaked recently.

The images show a lot of changes are coming to the UI. Apparently, Samsung has taken inspiration from Google’s changes to Android 9 Pie. Lots of rounded elements are to be found in the interface, and a revamped Recents menu also appears to be in the cards.

Has Samsung started testing Pie on the Galaxy Note 9? Quite possibly, although we don’t know that for sure yet. So we users might be in for a long wait.
