Samsung recently refreshed its Android 9 Pie roadmap for all eligible devices and according to that the Galaxy Note 9 was expected to grab the One UI carrying Android 9 update OTA beginning from January 15.
But it’s a pleasant surprise that Samsung has once again begun seeding out the stable Pie update ahead of their own schedule, similarly to the Galaxy S9/S9+, but that’s not to say that the rollout is timely — FYI, Google released the Pie update on August 6 (151 days ago!). And OnePlus rolled out Android Pie for the OnePlus 6 on September 21, 2018 (105 days ago!). So, Samsung’s team has got some catch up to do if they want to impress with the software release timing.

Anyhoo, the stable build is being rolled out for Galaxy Note 9 users in Germany; however, it wouldn’t be long before the update is made available globally for the Note 9. If you’re on the latest One UI beta on your Note 9, then the update size would only be 95MB hence, you could be rocking the stable Android 9 Pie update on your Galaxy Note 9 in a jiffy.
For users who didn’t jump aboard the One UI beta programme, the update would weigh-in around 1.7 GB. As of now, it is unknown how widespread the update rollout actually is.
The new software version is N960FXXU2CRLT and also comes along with the January security patch which is pretty sweet. This means that the US models of the Galaxy Note 9 (ending with U and U1), aren’t up for update right now but that shouldn’t last long. You can expect an update for the US models pretty soon.
Note 9 users in Germany should receive the update notification soon if not received already or else you could also check for the update manually. To do this, head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Wait for the device to scan for the update and if there’s an update available simply tap on Download then tap on Install once the update has been downloaded on your device.

For those who get the Android Pie OTA, well, keep an eye on our page on how to download Android Pie on Galaxy Note 9, where we share the firmware file soon. This helped a lot of Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus users too, as well as Galaxy S8 and Note 8 users too. So, watch out that space. Sorry Galaxy S7 users, you are no longer eligible for the big update.
