Fortnite is back with Season 5, and so are the glitches. Every season players are treated to stunning new content that gets them reinvigorated about the game and even after playing for hours on end, leaves them wanting for more. But sometimes, as they spend hours to level up, amass resources, all of a sudden a glitch appears. BAM! Just like that, all of their earnings are lost to the wind.
One such glitch has lately surfaced that takes away all of one’s gold bars – the new in-game currency and, arguably, one of the more important game resources. It is understandably infuriating when a glitch like this kills your gaming spirit, and it’s okay if you pledge never to play the game again. Fortnite Gold bars: What are they and how do you get them?
Gold bars – the sound of these two words perk up the ears of people all across the globe, not just Fortnite players. But it means something slightly different for the latter. They are a new in-game currency introduced in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 that can be used for a variety of purposes – weapon purchase, weapon upgrades, hiring NPCs as bodyguards, etc.
There’s no way you can buy this in-game currency with real money so the play-field is effectively leveled off. Everyone will have to work towards it by completing bounties, quests, eliminating players, finding chests and safes, and a bunch of other ways.
Bugged: Why did my Gold bars disappear?
It’s not easy to get Gold Bars. They require you to grind it out on the battlefield, complete time-consuming bounties, quests and survive long enough to eliminate all your foes. All of this takes time and energy, needless to say, and you would want to safeguard it like your baby. It is through them, after all, that you can get those epic weapon upgrades, amongst other things, that will ensure that you hold your own when the going gets tough.

But now a bug has emerged that just completely wipes off your gold bar count from the screen.

If this is not heartbreaking, we don’t know what is. But if it happens to you, know that you’re not alone. A whole lot of people have had to go through this problem as well.
Getting Gold bars is definitely no easy task, and as you can see from the grievances expressed above, it seems like a lot of people have got the bug. So, what’s causing it?
Apparently, it’s only a visual bug. This means that you haven’t ‘lost’ your Gold Bars anymore than your Windows screen gets lost when you fire up a game. It’s just not ‘visible’. So, yes the gold bars may have dis-appeared, but they’re not lost.
How to fix the Gold bar disappearing issue
Even though they’re not lost, you won’t be able to purchase anything that requires Gold bars since the game will have to corroborate data regarding how many Gold bars you have with the visual outputs as well. So how do you fix it? It’s simple, you wait.

Most of the people who’ve been a victim of this glitch have found that their Gold Bar progress returns after some time.
If you’re really lucky, you can get it upon restarting the game; the unfortunate ones would have to wait a couple of games for it to get fixed. But they are all going to come back eventually. So there’s no need to panic. Even if you haven’t received your Gold bars after two or three days, or, God-forbid, a week, just play your usual game, have patience, and trust in the force. This is the way.

A week? How long would people like ME have to wait?? It’s been more than 3 days. I think I have the bug the worst, because at first I had somewhere over 1,500 or 1,600 bars, then I noticed most of them were gone. I had a few hundred bars left. Then shortly thereafter, the rest of those remaining bars wiped out. Restarted Fortnite; Restarted Ps4 and I was still at 0 bars. I was very pissed off, but later I heard that they come back after a few matches. So I waited, and waited and waited….. still zero. So I tried just getting more of them while hoping that my original gold bars would return. I got more bars–original bars never returned as of yet–and soon after, my NEW bars that I just got were gone as well!! Everytime I get more bars, they get taken away. It’s like they’re being STOLEN. This is not just simply some “visual glitch” in my case. Something more is going on here, and I don’t like it. I have yet to hear of anyone having the bug as bad as I do.
I managed to get my number back up to over 600 with more new bars. I wouldn’t be surprised if those get taken soon as well.
I haven’t been spending any of them. And if my original gold bars ever return, I’ll try to come back and give an update by editing or adding on to this comment. If you don’t see any update from me, then the bars haven’t returned…still.
