Caine is finally becoming a real AI character

One of the most exciting improvements is the overhaul of Caine. Instead of being mostly a scripted character, Caine is being upgraded with a much more interactive AI system.

According to the preview, Caine will receive:

New animationsMore expressive movements
Head trackingFollows nearby players naturally
Interactive dialogueCan respond and converse with players
Improved immersionMakes encounters feel more dynamic

These upgrades should make Caine feel much more like a living character instead of simply triggering preset events.

New abstraction rescue method adds another survival option

Abstraction is one of the game’s core mechanics, and the update introduces an additional way to save abstracted players.

Although the developer has not fully revealed how the mechanic works, it is intended to give teammates more opportunities to prevent permanent abstraction. This expands cooperative gameplay and should make rescue situations more strategic instead of relying on the existing methods alone.

Doorbells will become functional

Player rooms are also receiving an important gameplay feature.

Doorbells will no longer be decorative. Players will be able to ring another player’s doorbell, potentially interrupting what is happening inside.

The developer specifically demonstrated this mechanic being used to interrupt another player’s abstraction, giving teammates another possible way to intervene before it’s too late.

This change could create more interaction between players and reduce situations where someone becomes abstracted without anyone noticing.

The new Keyholder mechanic explained

A completely new gameplay system called the Keyholder has also been revealed.

Instead of every player being restricted to their own room, one randomly selected player will temporarily become the Keyholder.

Because the role rotates randomly, every match could play out differently depending on who receives the key.

Several new locations are being added

The update isn’t only focused on gameplay mechanics. Multiple new environments are also planned.

Aquarium

A special aquarium area is currently being built for top-ranked players. It appears to serve as a reward area that showcases progression.

Bathroom

The bathroom is expected to connect directly with the game’s sanity system, suggesting it may have gameplay importance rather than being purely cosmetic.

Café

The lobby will also receive a café, giving players another place to socialize while waiting between matches.

Together, these additions should make the game world feel much larger and more alive.

Hidden secrets are still being teased

The developer also hinted at several mysterious features that are not yet confirmed for the next update.

These include:

SecretCurrent Status
Office exitTeased
Hidden emotesTeased
Additional secretsPossible future update

The developer emphasized that these features may require more development time, so players should not expect every teased addition to appear immediately.

Some features could arrive later

While the preview showcased numerous additions, the developer also clarified that development priorities may change before release.

If certain mechanics need additional testing or polishing, they may be postponed into later updates instead of launching immediately. This means the preview should be viewed as an early roadmap rather than a guaranteed list of launch-day features.

Why you should save for this Experience Abstraction update

Compared to previous updates, this patch focuses less on adding isolated content and more on improving the overall gameplay loop.

The smarter Caine AI, additional abstraction-saving mechanics, functional doorbells, and the Keyholder system all encourage greater player interaction. Meanwhile, new lobby locations and hidden secrets expand exploration outside the core survival gameplay.

If most of these features launch together, this will likely become one of Experience Abstraction’s largest gameplay updates to date.
