All three Torrent skins sit out in the world — the Tree Sentinel attire in a chest in Stormveil Castle, the Carian Silver attire in a chest at Ranni’s Rise in Liurnia, and the Funereal Night attire on the ground by a sword memorial on the Altus Plateau near Leyndell — then equipped at any Site of Grace.
The Tarnished Pack that landed with Patch 1.17 added three Spectral Steed Attire cosmetics for Torrent, and unusually for a FromSoftware game, none of them are bought individually or handed over by an NPC — each one is simply placed somewhere in the Lands Between for you to go and grab. Below is where all three are, the single shared step for swapping between them, and how returning players on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC get the set.

The three attires — in-game the pickups read as Spectral Steed Regalia — are spread one per region across the early-to-mid Lands Between, and you can grab them in any order. Tree Sentinel is the one most players get first: from the Godrick the Grafted Site of Grace after that fight, head up into the throne room and turn right instead of taking the usual left exit, into the side room where a newly added chest holds the attire.

Pick up your first attire
The moment you loot any Spectral Steed Attire, a prompt reads “The spectral steed’s appearance can now be changed.”
Rest at any Site of Grace
Sit at a grace anywhere in the world — the option lives here, not in your inventory or equipment menus.
Open “Change spectral steed appearance”
It’s added to the very bottom of the grace menu, below the usual options.
Choose a skin or revert to default
Select any attire you own to apply it, or pick the original appearance to put Torrent back to normal.
Carian Silver attire: the Ranni’s Rise chest
Key Reaching this chest is the only real barrier, and it’s one you’ve likely already cleared: you need access to Ranni’s Rise, which means beating Royal Knight Loretta in Caria Manor. You do not, however, need to touch Ranni’s questline — the tower and its new chest are open the moment Loretta is down.
Clear Caria Manor and beat Royal Knight Loretta
This opens the path to Ranni’s Rise in northern Liurnia of the Lakes.
Fast-travel to the Ranni’s Rise Site of Grace
It sits at the base of the tower, ringed by the large blue crystals.
Step inside the tower
Head up into the central room where the grace is.
Open the chest next to the grace
It’s right beside the Site of Grace — some players smash the desk and books in front of it first — and it gives Spectral Steed Regalia: Carian Silver.
Funereal Night attire by the sword memorial
This one isn’t in a chest — it’s a straight world pickup, and the tricky part is that players point at different graces nearby. Rather than chase a name, ride to the field of upright swords along Leyndell’s outer wall on the Altus Plateau, roughly east of the Hermit Merchant’s Shack grace, and the attire is sitting on the ground. One thing worth knowing before you equip it: the in-game spelling wobbles between Funereal Night and Funeral Night depending on the screen, so don’t be thrown if the equip confirmation reads differently from the item name.
Ride to the Altus Plateau near Leyndell
Make for the outer wall area on the plateau, on the road below Leyndell’s outskirts.
Aim for the field of upright swords
A cluster of swords stands planted in the ground at a cliff-edge war memorial, roughly east of the Hermit Merchant’s Shack Site of Grace.
Go to the lone sword on the left edge
One standalone sword sits apart from the cluster on the left side.
Grab the item in front of it
The Funereal Night attire is on the ground at its base — pick it up to add the skin.
For Funereal Night, ignore the debated grace name and ride straight to the field of upright swords on Leyndell’s outer wall — the attire is on the ground in front of the single sword on the left edge.

The three skins arrived with Patch 1.17 and are bundled into Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, the Switch 2 release that also packs the base game, Shadow of the Erdtree, two extra starting classes, and four armor sets. If you’re on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC and already own the game, there’s nothing to re-buy — the same content sells separately as the Tarnished Pack for a standard €4.99, available since August 28, 2026. Whichever route you take, the attires themselves are identical.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do the Torrent skins change any of Torrent’s stats?
No. Every Spectral Steed Attire is purely cosmetic — it only changes how Torrent looks. There’s no difference to his speed, health, or hitbox, in PvE or PvP, so pick whichever one you think pairs best with your armor.
Do I have to beat a boss to get each skin?
None of the attires are boss rewards — you loot all three from the world, not from a boss’s drops. Two of the spots do sit behind main-path fights, though: Godrick the Grafted has to be down before you can reach the Tree Sentinel chest inside Stormveil Castle, and Royal Knight Loretta in Caria Manor gates the Ranni’s Rise chest for Carian Silver. Funereal Night on the Altus Plateau is a plain open-world pickup with no fight attached.
