Own a Xiaomi Mi 8? Then we have good news for you, as the Android 9 Pie update is now available for the phone as MIUI 8.9.20 beta.
You’re probably quite excited to get a taste of Pie on your phone, so below you’ll find the ROM packages that you can manually download on your device:
- Recovery ROM | 1.62 GB
- Install it using the Local update method on a Chinese device, or the TWRP recovery method on global devices.
- Fastboot ROM | 2.49 GB
- Install it using the Fastboot method
You should, of course, make sure to back up all of your data before attempting to install any of this, or risk losing all you had on your phone, prior to the experience.
The ROM adds will add a series of Pie features to your device including gesture navigation, app actions, adaptive battery, brightness and other nifty features.

A few days ago, Xiaomi started rolling out the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROMs for the Mi 8 and Mi MIX 2S. The ROMs were both based on Android Oreo. Android Pie was previously available for Mi 8 users in China as an insider beta. But now the global version is also available in the form of MIUI 8.9.20.
