Android 9 Pie for LG G7 is now available unofficially thanks to an AOSP ROM

Android 9 Pie has been out since August, but for the time being only a handful of device run the new OS version. Fortunately, thanks to the developer community owners of smartphones who are still waiting to get the update, can give Pie a try in advance by installing custom ROMs.

This is the case of the LG G7, which albeit being one of LG’s current flagship devices, is yet to be upgraded to Pie. Well, if you’re eager to try the new version of Android on your phone, the good news is that Android 9 Pie is now available thanks to an AOSP ROM.

The ROM is up for download on the XDA Developers forum, but before you proceed to install it make sure you read the full post. The developer has listed a few things that might not be fully functional prior to the installation including the fact that the display sometimes turns black for about 0.5 seconds. Also, notification led doesn’t work.

But if you’re prepared and willing to give it a go, follow the instructions in the post to install the ROM on your LG G7. Now, if you’re not familiar with the process of rooting your smartphone, we recommend you stay away from this and wait for the stable release instead. It’s definitely coming at some point. But when exactly, we can’t tell you just yet.
