Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave throws a lot at you during its opening hours. Between four protagonists, a four-turn day system, exploration, recruitment, Support conversations, training, Paralogues and tactical battles, there are plenty of mechanics that are easy to overlook.
Early game tips for Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave
If you’re starting a new save, these are the most useful things to know and do first in Fortune’s Weave:
1. Update to Version 1.0.1 before settling into your playthrough
The first thing to check is that your game is running the latest launch version. Version 1.0.1 adds several free legacy weapons, including the Chosen Sword, Chosen Lance and Breidablik.
These weapons are tied to previous Fire Emblem games and are available as additional equipment rather than something you need to earn through the normal story progression.
Getting them immediately gives you more options when experimenting with your early units, so there is little reason to leave them sitting unclaimed.
2. Visit the Shrine of Causality regularly
The Shrine of Causality is one of the easiest systems to overlook when you’re focused on the main story.

The game allows you to experience their stories in parallel, but there is also a practical reason to consider completing one Part I route before jumping into another. World-map exploration and completed generic Subquests carry over between Part I routes, while character levels and equipment do not.
That means your second protagonist doesn’t necessarily have to rediscover everything you already uncovered.
You can still switch between stories whenever you want, but understanding what carries over will help you decide whether you want a parallel playthrough or a more focused route-by-route approach.
4. Learn the four-turn day system early
Fortune’s Weave divides each day into four six-hour Turns.
The calendar can initially make every action feel expensive, but not everything advances the clock. A number of activities in Dagsion can be performed without consuming a Turn.
This distinction becomes important because you can often complete several useful activities before committing to an action that actually advances the day.
Instead of treating every activity as equally costly, pay attention to whether the game warns you that an action will consume a Turn.
5. Make Dagsion part of your weekly routine
Dagsion is much more than a story hub.
Several useful activities reset on a weekly basis, including things connected to Training, the Shrine, the Pale Raven, Gifts and Inn Meals.
You don’t necessarily need to return after every single mission, but you should keep the weekly cycle in mind. Returning regularly means you won’t accidentally leave useful activities unused for several weeks.
Sunday is particularly worth remembering because some activities receive special benefits or discounts around the weekly reset.

It can be tempting to feed most of your experience to the strongest character you have.

Enemies can require different answers, so a team with several reasonably developed units is generally more flexible than one superstar surrounded by characters who are far behind.
Keep an eye on your roster after each major battle and rotate characters when appropriate.
7. Pay attention to weapon-specific advantages
The traditional Fire Emblem weapon triangle isn’t the only thing that matters.
Different weapon types have additional strengths. Bows, for example, are useful against flying and mounted targets, while other weapons provide different advantages during repeated attacks or against specific enemy defenses.
Magic is also particularly useful against heavily armoured targets.

Because feeding the raven is part of the weekly routine, it is an easy activity to forget if you’re spending most of your time exploring.
Add it to your Dagsion checklist.
10. Don’t ignore environmental objects in dungeons
When exploring dungeons, break environmental objects whenever you can.
They can provide materials and other useful resources, and those materials become increasingly relevant as you progress through the game’s crafting and equipment systems.
The ZR button is also useful for revealing paths and making dungeon navigation easier.
Dungeons aren’t simply combat gauntlets. They’re resource-gathering areas, so taking the time to investigate them can pay off later.
11. Unlock Posthouses as you explore
Posthouses become increasingly valuable as the world map opens up.
They provide fast travel options that can save Turns and reduce the amount of time spent physically travelling across the map.
This is particularly important when you need to return to Dagsion for weekly activities while you’re exploring somewhere far away.
The more Posthouses you uncover, the easier it becomes to manage the game’s calendar without spending unnecessary Turns on travel.
12. Use ZR for more than dungeon navigation
ZR has several useful functions outside of combat.
You can use it to quickly access destinations and facilities in Dagsion, while certain world-map interactions allow you to check available shops and destinations without physically travelling there first.
That makes ZR one of those small quality-of-life features that becomes increasingly useful once you start moving around the map frequently.
13. Use Inn Meals to build Support
Support is one of the most important long-term systems in Fortune’s Weave.
Inn Meals provide a convenient way to increase relationships between characters, which can help with recruitment and other Support-related progression.
Sunday can be particularly useful for this because of the game’s weekly discounts.
Once you’ve established your core party, regularly using Meals is one of the easiest ways to keep Support progressing while also taking advantage of the other benefits associated with the Inn.
14. Save Auto Activity for when your important tasks are finished
Auto Activity is convenient, but using it immediately isn’t always the best use of your available time.
Before activating it, check whether you still have manual activities worth completing. You may want to train a particular character, increase Support with someone you’re trying to recruit, complete a Shrine activity or take advantage of a weekly event.
Once you’ve exhausted the activities you actually care about, Auto Activity becomes a useful way to fill the remaining time.
15. Don’t miss Paralogues
Paralogues aren’t simply optional battles that you can ignore until the end of the game.
There are nine Paralogues during Part I, and their availability can depend on your current protagonist and the calendar.
They can provide additional story content alongside rewards such as Gold, items and Renown.
Because some have specific availability windows, check your map and calendar whenever a Paralogue appears rather than automatically continuing with the main story.
16. Consider when you recruit characters
Recruiting everyone immediately isn’t always necessary.
Some characters can be recruited later in Part I and may arrive with higher levels and better starting equipment, according to early launch guides.
That doesn’t mean delaying every recruitment is optimal. If a character fills an important role your team is missing, recruiting them earlier can make your current battles easier.
Instead, think about recruitment in terms of your current roster: do you actually need this character now, or would waiting give you a stronger version later?
17. Keep an eye on Support conversations
Building Support isn’t enough by itself. You also need to pay attention to when conversations become available.
Some Support conversations can have progression restrictions, meaning you shouldn’t blindly rush through the main story while ignoring the Support menu.
Whenever you return to Dagsion, check which conversations are available and whether any relationships are ready to advance.
This also gives you another reason to keep using Meals and other Support-building activities.
18. Use Guest Units aggressively
Guest Units work differently from your regular characters, and they can be particularly useful during certain battles.
You can control them directly, while the experience associated with their participation can ultimately benefit your own roster.
Their equipment also gives you opportunities to use powerful attacks without worrying about treating their weapons exactly like your own long-term equipment.
If a Guest Unit is available, don’t automatically leave them sitting on the sidelines.
A smoother start in Fortune’s Weave
The opening hours of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave become much easier once you stop treating every mechanic as a separate system. The calendar, Dagsion activities, Support, exploration, recruitment and combat all feed into one another.
Update the game, collect your free equipment, check the Shrine, establish a weekly Dagsion routine, keep your army balanced and use the information provided by Foresight before major battles. Once those habits are in place, you can spend more time enjoying the four protagonists’ stories instead of worrying about whether you’re accidentally wasting your Turns.
