Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Oreo update
- Android 8.1 Oreo beta now available
The Chinese version of Xiaomi Mi Note 3 switched to Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 on top back in September, but users of the global version have had to wait until November 22 to get a similar treat. Despite the long wait, the Oreo 8.1 update is finally here, which also marks the first time the global Mi Note 3 has tasted MIUI 10.
The wait for the stable release is likely to go until the end of January 2019.

Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Android 9 Pie update
- Android 9 Pie update expected
- Pie-based custom ROMs may arrive earlier
Xiaomi Mi Note 2 got two major OS upgrades largely because it launched as a flagship phone. As for the Mi Note 3, the specs under the hood point to a midrange phone, which could have some not-so-good implications. One major implication is the possibility of missing out on a second major OS upgrade, but we hope that Xiaomi will actually consider upgrading the Mi Note 3 to Android 9 Pie.
As we wait for the official update to arrive, Xiaomi Mi Note 3 users will be happy to learn that they are likely to come across Android Pie-based custom ROMs probably by the end of 2018 or in early 2019, but we cannot guarantee anything on this.
