Update [October 22, 2016]: The shot above comes from Xiaomi’s twitter handle, which all but confirms that the dual-edge display is here, on devices other than Note 7. The Mate 9 Pro is also said to feature the dual-edge curved display, FYI! Maybe Note 7 will not be missed, after all, for its beautiful display at least — bit what about the S-Pen, OEMs?
More: Another bunch of leaks today as regards the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, and these are a bunch of pics, and pics only. But these pics do make us totally believe that the Mi Note 2 features the dual-edge curvy display for real, and that it’s a genuine Note 7 alternative many people might be looking for. have a look at pics below (and one above). What do you say?
Update [October 22, 2016]: First up. let us tell you that yesterday’s rumors about the dual-edged curvy display about the Mi Note 3 were quashed as fake. Only that we’re now hearing again that Xiaomi is tapping LG’s dual-curved display for the Mi Note 2. And we’ve some juicy specs to chew on, too. See specs section below. And here’s the new pic.
Update [October 21, 2016]:Â New leaks emerging on web suggests that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 could have a curved display (Note-7 like, yes!), as shown in the pics below. You cannot say it’s got edges like the S7 Edge, the curves are looking pretty steep, but it’s definitely a Note 7 replacement for anyone looking for this.
With the given price and curved display, you can grab the 6GB+128GB version for mere 2,999 yuan, which is around INR30,000, or $449.
Update [October 20, 2016]: Some Mi Note 2 pics have leaked on the internet today, and we think you’d love to have a look at them. So, here, you go. Check the gallery above.
That back sure looks like glass to us, what do you say? Is it a Honor 8-like job? Whatever it is, we’re liking it. And BTW, the wallpaper on the device is the same image that told us to expect the Mi Note 2 official announcement on October 25 earlier, given below.
Mi Note 2 Price: We also have a leak about the price at which supposedly two models of the Mi Note 2 will be out in China. While both models will house the Snapdragon 821 processor, the 4GB+64GB model will cost you 2799 yuan, while the 6GB+128GB model will set you back by 2999 yuan.
Mi Note 2 Release Date
Xiaomi has confirmed the event time and date for the Mi Note 2 announcement in China, and it’s set for October 25. The company is also making the display its highlight feature. It’s rumored that the Mi Note 2 will feature a 3D touch screen, and we’re already excited to see it in action.
Mi Note 2 Specs
Here are the specs rumored once again.
- Curved 5.7″ LG display with WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels
- Snapdragon 821 SoC
- RAM and Storage: 4+64GB OR 6+128GB
- 16MP rear camera and 12MP front camera
- 3700 mAh battery
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is expected to arrive in two variants: regular and Pro. So, you’d have the choice of Mi Note 2 and Note 2 Pro. Here’s what differs between these two upcoming Xiaomi sets.
The Mi Note 2 will feature the Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 4GB RAM, while the Mi Note 2 Pro will be housing the better processor in Snapdragon 821 along with more RAM at 6GB.
The display of both the devices is rumored to be 5.7″ 2K one, albeit with 3D touch. We’re only a week away from the October 25 event, so we will definitely know more once it’s taken place, along with its release date in China, and then in India.
That said, we don’t think Xiaomi will launch the Mi Note 2 with Android 7.0 Nougat, so chances are more likely that it will come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow pre-installed.
BTW, we have the Android Nougat update available unofficially as a custom ROM for various Xiaomi devices like Redmi 3, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 2, etc. — check the CM14 download page here for that.
