Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has been hit by another leak which says that the upcoming phablet will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor. So, this means that we may not see the latest Snapdragon 660 make its way underneath the Mi Max 2.

The leak has flown in from China and emerged on the country’s microblogging site Weibo. Although, the mention of Mi Max 2 coming with Snapdragon 626 makes us feel let down, but then it isn’t that bad a chipset. We have seen Snapdragon 626 power great mid-range phones like Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro. This SoC is also known to provide less power consumption which will work in favor of a phablet with 6-inch display.

Having said that, we still would have loved to see Snapdragon 660 on board Mi Max 2. But given that Mi Max is targeted at budget phablet users, SD 626 would do just fine. And anyway with Xiaomi tossing the Redmi Pro 2 with SD 660, they will atleast have one phone with a cool new processor.

But our hopes get high when we recollect a past report which suggests that Xiaomi may release Mi Max 2 in two versions — standard and pro — with different SoCs. This leaves the option open for a SD 660 in the Mi Max 2 Pro variant.
