What Happened to Using Siri During Phone Calls in iOS 17?

What to know

  • ‘Siri in calls’ was part of the iOS 17 beta builds and was found under Settings > Siri & Search > Siri in Calls > Siri in Calls.
  • Once enabled, you were able to use Siri within normal phone calls and FaceTime calls. It also allowed you to use Siri with your AirPods and Beats headsets.
  • However, the feature was dropped in the stable iOS 17 update. But it could return in future iOS updates.

iOS 17 is a significant update for iPhones, bringing numerous new features and improvements to existing ones. A notable enhancement is Siri’s ability to respond to phrases starting with “Siri” instead of “Hey Siri”. Alongside this popular improvement, Apple had unveiled another feature: Siri in calls.

Although Apple made it part of the iOS 17 beta builds, it is unfortunately absent from the public release of iOS 17. However, this doesn’t mean it won’t be available in the future. Many iOS 17 features, such as the Journal app, are planned for future releases, including iOS 17.2. Consequently, it is likely that Siri in calls will also become available in future updates of iOS 17. Let’s now explore this feature and learn how to enable it on your iPhone once it is released in the future.

When will ‘Siri in calls’ become available?

Sadly, there is no official word on the same from Apple. So this is just speculation at this point, but it is likely that this feature will be released with iOS 17.2 alongside other iOS 17 features that have been held back till now, like the Journal app, as discussed above.
