Verizon releases September patch for the Pixel and Pixel 2 handsets

Pixel security update

The September patch security update is now available for all the Pixel handsets at Verizon. The Pixel and Pixel 2 are still one of the best Verizon phones you can buy in 2018, even with Pixel 3 just around the corner.

The software version of the update carrying the September patch is PPR2.180905.006.A1 for the Pixel and Pixel XL, while that for Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is PPR2.180905.005.

After the rollout of Android 9 Pie update for these devices last month, today’s update represents the second OTA based on Android 9. So even though the changelog doesn’t mention a lot, we hope that the update tackles down any issues you may be experiencing on the Android Pie OS.

Speaking of Android Pie rollout, OnePlus released the beta version of OxygenOS Android Pie update yesterday for the OnePlus 6 while Huawei isn’t idle either — the Chinese top OEM that also offers some of the best phones you can buy today has started a beta program too to allow handful users to get a taste of their EMUI 9 update that comes with Android 9.
