T-Mobile’s LG V40 receives second Android Pie update with July security patches

LG V40 Android update

US telecom giant T-Mobile has reportedly started to roll out an update for the LG V40 ThinQ, bringing the July Android security patch to the device.

T-Mobile V40 users had to wait an awfully long time to get their hands on Android Pie, with the update only rolling out in the penultimate week of June. LG V40 users AT&T received the Pie update we before the T-Mobile users, but at least they beat users at US Cellular to it.

The company is yet to roll out the July update officially, so, we don’t have the exact changelog at hand. But as per the user who got the update, it only seems like a routine security update.

We are yet to see the announcement by T-Mobile on their LG V40 update support page, but another user confirms the update on Reddit. The update reportedly weighs in at 179MB and comes as software version V405TA20h.

As it’s an OTA update, you could try looking for it manually. To check, go to Settings and then check for Software updates. Repeat the process a couple of times if you don’t get the update immediately.
