The Sprint Galaxy Note 7 is receiving an OTA update with firmware build PHE.
Sprint is yet to make an official announcement for the update but folks over at xda who have received the OTA update are saying that it brings the green battery icon to power menu, and probably September Android security patches as well.
But if you’re someone like us and care about having the possibility to root your Android devices, know that installing the PHE OTA update to your Sprint Note 7 will upgrade bootloader version on the device without any option to fallback to previous bootloader versions. Locking you out of all possibilities to use currently working root methods for Sprint Note 7.
However, since the update is also concerned with overheating battery issues on the Note 7. We believe you should take the OTA update without any delay. It’s okay to live without root for a while rather than having an overheated device (which might even explode) in pocket.
Stay safe..
The battery problem was build faults, nothing to do with firmware.
This update simply blocks you from using half your battery, for no reason.
