The year 2019 may prove to be yet another turning point in the mobile phone industry. We already know about Infinity display phones, 5G phones, 10GB RAM phones that will mark its presence, as well as some much anticipated foldable phones like Samsung Galaxy F and an LG foldable phone that will hit stores next year.

Never before have so many new and exciting techs arrived in a single calendar year, and to think the year hasn’t even begun yet! Japanese electronics major, Sony, is reportedly working on its own foldable phone but it’s a much different concept compared to the Samsung or LG foldable phone we’ve seen.

Sony, as reported by LetsGoDigital, filed a patent back in May at WIPO which was published late November in relation to the above-mentioned device.

The patent describes the ability of the phone to switch between transparent and opaque modes on the screens that function independently. It also mentions a form of rollable display, something very new to our ears. It remains to be seen, however, if Sony is ready to launch its foldable phone next year and compete with Samsung and LG.
