Smelly Sailors is locked behind main-story progress. If the event marker is missing in Havana, the usual reason is that you have not yet completed the story point tied to This Old Cove and receiving the manor on Great Inagua.

Once that progress is done, go back to Havana and check the southern part of town near the church viewpoint. The local-event route then leads you from the church area to the pier where the sailors left the map.

The map points away from Havana toward Dry Tortuga and an uncharted island in open water.

Sail northeast from Havana

Head north and east from Havana toward the coordinates around 356, 701 or 357, 700.

Stop at the uncharted island

There is no docking place, so leave the Jackdaw nearby and swim in.

Swim to the central wreckage

Head toward the large wreckage sitting in the middle of the small island area.

Dive for the treasure chest

Go underwater near the wreckage instead of looking for a digging prompt on land.

Open the first underwater chest

The first underwater chest contains the Guardian Beast Legendary Trinket.

Loot the second nearby chest

A second underwater chest sits close by and contains coins, including the related 1,000 Reales reward.

The island is also easy to miss because it is uncharted and has no normal docking point. Use the coordinates around 356, 701 or 357, 700, then look for the wreckage in the middle of the island area.

This treasure does not use a land-based digging prompt. Dive underwater and open the chest directly. The nearby money chest is separate from the trinket chest, so if you only collect coins, keep checking the underwater area until you open the chest with Guardian Beast.
