The Galaxy Note Pro was a pioneer in the tablet category back in 2014. Even though the device shipped with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, it featured an advanced set of specifications which were pretty high-end back then.
Featuring a large 12.2-inch 2560 x 1600 display, the tablet stayed quite large, which meant that it also came with a stylus. The Note pro had 3GB of RAM and got its horsepower from the Snapdragon 800 chipset. The battery on board came up to a massive 9500mAh juice pack.
Any chance of the Galaxy Note Pro receiving Nougat?
Given this specsheet, the Galaxy Note Pro would do amazing with an upgrade to Nougat. Samsung managed to keep the device up to date for a while, delivering updates till Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. And that was it, the tablet never got to see another update cycle beyond that.

The introduction of the Snapdragon 800 was a game changer in the Android industry back then. But sadly, that was it for the Note Pro. With that said, Samsung is still delivering regular security patches to the device.
The latest update which goes by build P905F0UBQC3, installs the April (2017) security patch and is Android 5.0.1 based. Funny thing here is that the device already received the Android 5.1.1 update from Verizon and AT&T way back in September of 2015.
Putting Nougat aside for a moment, is there a possibility for the Note Pro to receive Marshmallow at least? Well, considering that Samsung has been idle about this for so many months can serve as an indication that the device won’t get the upgrade, whatsoever.

Is there another way to try Nougat?
Given the performance that the Note Pro’s hardware is capable of, developers started creating many ROMs ranging from Lineage OS to plain rooted ROMs. These will not only provide tons of customization options, but will let you get a taste of Nougat, without any frills.
Just take a precautionary step and stay away from ROMs that are still in beta or alpha, as they may come with a few more bugs than you could handle. If an official ROM is available, it’s best to stick with that one.
