The long-awaited life simulation game Paralives is finally entering Early Access on May 25, 2026. Developed by Paralives Studio, the indie project has spent years building momentum among players looking for an alternative to The Sims. The game launches on PC and Mac through Steam and will initially release as an unfinished Early Access experience rather than a full 1.0 version.

Unlike many modern life sims, Paralives is being self-published and funded primarily through Patreon support. The developers have repeatedly stated that future gameplay additions and expansions are planned as free updates instead of paid DLC packs.
Here is a quick breakdown of the launch details:

The biggest selling point of Paralives is its building system. Players can create curved walls, resize furniture freely, adjust colors and textures with a color wheel, and build without strict grid limitations. Split-level homes, mezzanines, and highly customizable interiors are all supported from launch.
Character creation is also significantly more flexible than many competing life sims. The game’s “Paramaker” tool allows players to customize body shapes, facial structures, clothing colors, tattoos, scars, and hairstyles with detailed sliders and direct manipulation tools.

At launch, players will be able to control “Parafolks,” build relationships, manage careers, and explore a small open town. However, the developers have already warned that some major features will not be available immediately. Weddings, birthdays, funerals, deeper social systems, and several town activities are planned for later updates during the Early Access period.
The studio estimates that Paralives could remain in Early Access for roughly two years while the team expands gameplay systems and improves stability.

One major advantage for creative players is full Steam Workshop integration from day one. Players will be able to share houses, furniture, textures, and custom creations directly through Steam without relying on external mod websites.
There is currently no pre-order option available for the game. Players can only wishlist it on Steam ahead of launch.
Pricing has not been officially confirmed by Paralives Studio yet. However, several previews and reports suggest the Early Access version may launch around the $39.99 range, while some estimates place it slightly lower, depending on region.

You should also keep expectations realistic for launch week. The developers have openly admitted that the Early Access build will not offer “hundreds of hours” of gameplay immediately, and recent previews have shown that some simulation systems still need refinement.
Still, for players primarily interested in building homes, creating characters, and experimenting with customization systems, Paralives already appears to offer one of the most ambitious foundations in the life simulation genre. Whether the live simulation side can match those building tools over time will likely determine how successful the game becomes during Early Access.
