Last week, HTC apologized to UK – and European – residents for the delayed rollout of the Oreo U11 update. In the apology, the company mentioned that it was experiencing “some complexities” that had caused the delay but promised to come out with more details as soon as possible.
Well, it didn’t take long as the company has started seeding the HTC U11 Oreo update to those in the EMEA region. This includes U11 users in Europe, Middle East and Africa, but of course, the update won’t hit all devices at the same time, which is normal with OTA releases.
Being a major shift from Android Nougat to Oreo, the OTA weighs quite heavy at 1.31GB and has software version 2.33.401.10. Other than installing the new OS, you also get system improvements and better performance of the HTC Edge Launcher and Helper.
The release of HTC U11 Oreo update in EMEA comes after the same device was updated to Oreo in Taiwan and the U.S. The update has also started rolling out to the HTC U11 Life and it should soon make its way to the HTC U Ultra, HTC U Play and last year’s HTC 10.
Before you download the OTA, make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection and that your battery is at least 50% full. Since OTA updates may take days or weeks before hitting all devices, this might be a perfect moment to try a manual update via the Settings menu.
