The Moto G5S Plus emerged some 9 months ago as a mid-range device and although it packs in a very good spec sheet, it laid low after a while. But those of you who purchased the device can now expect Motorola to bump you up all the way to Android 8.1 Oreo this week.

A serious boost from the Android Nougat that it ran on previously, even the June security patch from Google has been included with the software update.

After you cool off from enjoying all the more apparent features from Android 8.1 such as the new user interface design and features such as Picture-in-Picture mode, there’s more going on behind the scenes.

Based on the official list of supported ARCore devices, Moto G5S is among the latest ones to make the list, which opens up all its users to the augmented reality platform that Google is building from the ground up.

While AR apps and games have been around predominantly on the iOS platform than Android, Google hopes to change that with ARCore.
