Nothing in the area directly explains how to open the door, which is why many players miss this secret entirely during their first visit.

How to unlock the hidden basement in Trinket Bazaar

The trick involves interacting with Lady Susan in an unusual way. Here is how to unlock the basement in Trinket Bazaar in Mina the Hollower:

Travel to the Trinket Bazaar and locate Lady Susan. Stand near Susan and rapidly strike her head several times. If done correctly, her head will begin spinning.

As soon as the spinning animation starts, quickly move to the locked basement door on the left side of the bazaar. Burrow directly into the door area while Susan’s head is still rotating.

The door will automatically unlock, granting access to the hidden basement below the Trinket Bazaar.

Timing is important here. If Susan’s head stops spinning before you burrow into the door area, you’ll need to repeat the process.

What you find inside the basement

After entering the basement, you’ll discover a mysterious figure chained inside a cage. This prisoner immediately stands out as an important character due to their unique placement and the fact that they are being held separately from everything else in the area.

Many players naturally attempt to free the prisoner using a normal Key, but this does not work. Let us know in the comments if you were able to uncover the truth of this caged creature.

Why the cage does not open

Despite looking like a standard locked cage, the prisoner’s cell cannot be opened with a regular Key. Using one has no effect, indicating that a different item, story event, or special key is required later in the game.

At this point, the basement primarily serves as a hidden discovery and introduces the mysterious captive. If you have only just unlocked the area, you should continue progressing through the game and keep an eye out for clues related to the prisoner’s release.

The hidden basement is one of Mina the Hollower’s more obscure secrets because it requires an unusual interaction that most players would never think to try. By striking Lady Susan’s head to make it spin and then burrowing into the locked door area, you can reveal a secret section containing a chained prisoner whose cage cannot yet be opened with a standard key.
