If you’re sporting an LG G5 SE smartphone, you can now officially unlock the bootloader, says LG. The device has been added to the list of supported devices on LG’s official developer website. The model number for this device is H840.

The LG G5 SE is a lower spec’d variant of the LG G5. It looks the same from the outside, and most of the features are still the same. However, the SE variant has a Snapdragon 652 and 3GB of RAM, instead of SD820 and 4GB RAM as on the standard G5.

Last month, LG added the U.S unlocked variant of the LG G5 to the list of supported devices for bootloader unlock. The RS988 model of the LG G5 to be exact. The H850 variant is also supported.

Unlocking the bootloader will void the warranty of the device. Therefore, it is best that you wait till the device is out of warranty before meddling with the bootloader. There are several benefits to it, but it can also be risky if you don’t know what you’re doing.
