Usually, non-Google OEMs begin rolling out monthly software updates to their devices within a week or two following the update’s arrival on the Pixel phones, but lately, things have been changing drastically. The Essential Phone got the update alongside the Pixels and in some cases, some devices even got it way before the bulletin went live.

Huawei has now joined the party with similar updates for multiple devices, including some from Honor. While most of them are receiving this month’s Android security patch, some are on the receiving end of last month’s patches. The updates, in some cases, carry more than just monthly security patches, but also bug fixes and performance optimizations too.

If you own any of the Huawei P20, P20 Pro, P20 Lite, P10, P10 Plus, P10 Lite, Nova, Nova 2i, Honor 9N, and Honor 6X, there’s an update to September 2018 security patch rolling out right now. The same update had already been spotted on the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro as well. As for those using the Honor 7A, Honor 7C and Honor 9i or rather Mate 10 Lite, the update coming your way contains August 2018 patches.

All of these updates are rolling out over the air, meaning it will be days before all units get the download notification. You can wait for the OTA alert to arrive later this week, or you can head to your device’s Settings menu and tap System update to check for the updates manually.

Some of the devices in this post have already received Android 9 Pie beta, but not all of them are eligible for the update. To find out if your Huawei or Honor device will receive Pie, hit the link below.
