In April, we reported that Huawei was testing Android Oreo on Huawei Mate 9. It was a lot premature to see a Mate 9 running Android O build, but the leaked screenshot was pretty convincing too. Since then, Google has released Android Oreo officially, and it looks like Huawei is readying its Mate 9 handset now to update it to Android 8.0.
We just found a listing of Huawei Mate 9 on Geekbench that has the device powered by Android 8.0.0 OS, which is our Oreo update. By this measure, if all goes well, we should soon see Android Oreo update for Mate 9 in the coming months.
Huawei hasn’t shared its Oreo release plans yet, but they do look like on track. There is a Huawei Mate 10 in the works, which is rumored to come with Android 8.0 pre-installed, and now we have seen the Mate 9 running on Oreo as well.

Recently, OnePlus also released a closed-beta build of Android Oreo for OnePlus 3, while, a Chinese Oreo firmware has leaked out for the OnePlus 3T too. There are rumors that Samsung is also testing Oreo update for Galaxy S8, and they could release test build for public really soon. Even Nokia 8 is lined up for a quick Oreo update, while HTC has revealed that they plan to update the U11 and U Ultra and 10 to Oreo soon.
Sony’s Oreo release plans have been known for sometime as well, but you can check out our Android Oreo release page here where we are keeping track of all Android Oreo update related news.
