At IFA, Huawei announced EMUI 9 based on Android 9, as well as a beta program. The beta is available for the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, Honor 10, Honor View 10, and Honor Play.

The upcoming EMUI 9 will encompass a whole bunch of new Pie features such as Gesture navigation, Digital Wellbeing, revamped Notification panel and much more.

On top of that, there’s a new feature slated for Huawei’s upcoming EMUI 9 interface that has been dug up recently. It appears that the company plans to implement an Emergency call function that can be activated by pressing the power button for a total of 5 times.

According to our sources, the new option is coming to the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro and Porsche edition first.

And given that the new Huawei Mate 20 and 20 Pro will launch with Android 9 out of the box (and by extension with EMUI 9 on top), we can assume the feature will be present on them too.

Huawei has scheduled a press event for October 16, during which we’re going to see the two flagships go official. So in a few weeks, we might be able to know more about this new emergency call feature.
