Huawei this week has started rolling out the Android Pie beta update for the Honor 8X, Nova 3i and Mate 20 Lite in China. The new build upgrades the software version on board of the device(s) to 9.0.1.59 and brings EMUI 9.0 on board with it.
The new update is going out only to users who have previously applied and have already been admitted in the beta program.
But before you proceed forward, Huawei mentions that you need to make sure that you have the software version 8.2.0.142 on your device (applies to all three models), otherwise you will not receive the new build. What’s more, the company says to make sure your phone does not have root. Note that you need to have at least 6GB of internal storage space, or else you risk an upgrade failure.
Android Pie, as well as EMUI 9, bring a lot of new features to the table including the new Natural UX design, GPU Turbo 2.0, improved AI, Password Vault and the ability to use the fingerprint sensor or face recognition to login into an app.
