HTC U 11 to have USB Type C headphone jack, not the standard 3.5mm pin

According to a new leak, the upcoming HTC U 11 will ship with an USB Type-c to 3.5mm adapter and USB Type-C headphones. Yes, that means no headphone jack on the new flagship from HTC.

The HTC U Ultra didn’t have a headphone jack either, so it looks like this is going to be the new trend with flagships. Xiaomi has also removed the headphone jack on the new Mi 6, and rumors suggest that the OnePlus 5 could also get rid of it.

The leakster also mentioned that the display on the HTC U 11 would be a SuperLCD 5 and not an AMOLED. We aren’t very far from the official announcement. HTC would be unveiling the flagship on May 16.

The HTC U 11 is supposed to have plenty of cool features, including a pressure sensing bezel, HTC BoomSound, and a lot more. And with the Snapdragon 835 processor ticking inside, the phone will surely be a performer.

  1. Ah RIP headphone Jack, seems to be the trend slowly, not that great imo but apparently type-c is much better for audio Otherwise it was really good in so many ways :/

  2. well not really surprised to hear that, from the recent leaked renders and judging by all the flagship devices after HTC 10 (HTC Bolt, U and U Ultra) has headphone jack this was pretty obvious.. hope they make some good quality bluetooth earphones to go along with it like the airpods from apple!!

    1. I guess it was obvious after all. I just failed to see it and was hoping things would be different regarding the headphone jack but turns out it isn’t. :/

  4. Double disappointment with no headphone jack and no amoled display. This is the first update about the U11 that has been negative for me atleast.
If I was a person who could buy an S8 and was waiting for U11 to release just to see how it turns out to be and I learned this, I would have honestly stopped waiting and gone ahead to buy the S8, :/ HTC needs this to be a hit but they are putting that in jeopardy themselves by making these compromises

  6. An AMOLED display would have fetched them better sales, comparing this to the market trend and the really amazing display of the S8, the other flagships are outperforming the U11 and it’s not even released yet. I am an htc fan though, and this smartphone has many unique features to it, I do hope that this turns out for the better. There has not been many “great’ smartphones from Htc in the recent years following the M8. Regarding the headphones, having experienced that personally, I would not make it that much of a deal. No doubt that is a problem, but as the industry is gradually making the shift, we have to adapt and use an ADAPTER 😛
