What to know
- Nothing OS 2.5 comes with a frosty new ‘Atmosphere’ effect for your wallpapers.
- The ‘Atmosphere’ effect can be applied after you choose a wallpaper from Customization settings.
- Both your lock screen and Home screen need to have the same wallpaper to apply the ‘Atmosphere’ effect.
Nothing OS is nothing if not gorgeous. From fully monochromatic icons to a heavily customizable Home screen and Lock screen, it has everything for Android aesthetes to drool over. With the recent Nothing OS 2.5 update, Nothing has introduced a new ‘Atmosphere’ effect for its wallpapers that is sure to breathe some life into your Home screen. Here’s all you need to know about it.
How to add the ‘Atmosphere’ effect on wallpapers on Nothing OS 2.5
The Atmosphere effect adds a frosted look to your Nothing wallpapers. In contrast to the Glass effect, which was released earlier, the Atmosphere effect blurs the wallpaper so that you don’t really see the details until you lock your device.
Requirements
To get access to the ‘Atmosphere’ effect for wallpapers, you’ll need to update to Nothing OS 2.5 or later. Check for updates from Settings > System > System update.
Guide
- Tap and hold on the Home screen and select Customization. Select a wallpaper or tap on the ‘More wallpapers’ option at the bottom and select one.
- If you like you can pinch to crop the wallpaper and enable/disable scrolling. Once done, tap on the tick at the top right corner.
- Tap on Atmosphere at the bottom to enable it. Depending on your device and the update you’ve received, you may see the ‘Glass’ effect here as well. Regardless, tap on Done at the top right corner to confirm.
Do note that you will need to set the same wallpaper for both Lock screen and Home screen.
- Now, whenever you unlock your screen, you will see the static lock screen wallpaper transition to the frosty ‘Atmosphere’ effect on the Home screen.
FAQ
Let’s consider a few commonly asked questions about wallpaper effects on the Nothing OS.
Why can’t I find the ‘Glass’ effect on Nothing OS 2.5?
Although both the ‘Glass’ and ‘Atmosphere’ effects are part of the Nothing OS, some users (like ourselves) may find the ‘Glass’ effect missing. One can only wait for the next minor update to fix this issue.
Where do I select stock Android and live wallpapers on Nothing OS?
With the Nothing OS 2.5 update, Nothing seems to have removed the ability to set Android and live wallpapers. This too appears to be an issue that needs resolution from the Nothing team. In the meantime, you can install Google’s Wallpapers app from the Play Store. However, you won’t be able to apply the ‘Atmosphere’ effect on those wallpapers.
Even though the Atmosphere effect hasn’t rolled out perfectly for everyone as part of Nothing OS 2.5, its limited functionality is still worth trying out. We hope you were able to apply the Atmosphere effect on Nothing wallpapers. Until next time!
